Words that $ELL a home Faster

Sometimes, I am disappointed to see that a seasoned agent might have 10 listings, but the pictures are sideways, there is no creativity or time put into the listing remarks. That really isn’t in the best interest of the client.

The Daily Real Estate News recently reported that CoreLogic researchers looked at more than a million single family home transactions sold in 2016 thus far and found that certain phrases in public comments helped sell a home faster.

Words that had the biggest impact were:

  • Fenced backyard (Seems like privacy is a top priority for buyers!)
  • Open concept
  • Updated Kitchen
  • Move in ready
  • Vaulted ceilings
  • Natural light
  • Single Story

Words that were found to NOT shorten days on market were:

  • Golf course
  • Gourmet Kitchen
  • Ceramic Tile
  • Granite Countertop (Granite countertops are losing their appeal and quartz is becoming more popular)
  • Custom built…
  • Ceramic Tile
  • Large Walk In
  • Second Floor

And another trend that remains popular today is that single family homes are still more desireable than a two story home.

Why do you think “gourmet kitchen” isn’t as favorable as “updated kitchen” in the study?
